FAQ

GAUGING SYSTEMS
What kind of accuracy can I expect?
Accuracy may be expressed as either component accuracy or system accuracy. Individual components such as transmitters generally have accuracy expressed as ± % FS (percent of full scale or full range of the device). In the case of our LevelTRAN liquid level transmitter, the accuracy specified is ± 0.15% FS.

Therefore…

  • 5 PSIG range x 0.15% = 0.007 psi or 0.2 in water depth
    • 10 PSIG range x 0.15% = 0.015 psi or 0.4 in water depth
    • 15 PSIG range x 0.15% = 0.0225 psi or 0.6 in water depth
    • 30 PSIG range x 0.15% = 0.045 psi or 1.2 in water depth
    • 50 PSIG range x 0.15% = 0.075 psi or 2.0 in water depth

Generally speaking, KING-GAGE® systems that utilize pneumatic sensors (AcraSensor, TeleSensor) or downpipe purge (LiquiSeal or Purge Control) have accuracy stated as ± 1/4 inch of liquid depth.

What range sensor do I need?
Rule of thumb uses the simple calculation based on maximum depth in inches. Multiple inches of depth by the specific gravity (where water is 1.00 sp. gr.) and divide by 27.68…

(INCHES OF DEPTH x SPECIFIC GRAVITY) &Mac184; 27.68 = PSI

Can I shorten the cable on the sensor?
If possible, simply coil excess cable rather than trimming it. Previous Series 5700 KING-GAGE® Electronic Sensors require positive venting through the cable assembly and must retain the watertight integrity to prevent damage to the internal electronics.

How do I adjust the span (or range) of the sensor?

    • LevelTRAN Transmitters: there are no user-authorized span adjustments. (LevelTRAN transmitters and KING-GAGE® Electronic Sensors are fixed range devices with less than 2% adjustment.)
    • D/P Transmitters: these pneumatic-to-current transmitters offer range adjustment of 60%-140% of nominal. Use the span adjustment potentiometer (refer to EX- service manual for details).
    • On air operated diaphragm sensors, range adjustment is only applicable to systems using D/P Sensor Controls or D/P Purge Controls.

    How do I calibrate a KING-GAGE® indicator?

    • Manometer type (fluid filled) gauges do not require calibration other than to check the level of indicating fluid with no pressure applied to the instrument. The procedure to replenish the fluid fill is outlined in KING instruction manual EX-1522-10.
    • KING-GAGE® electronic and digital instruments require factory service in the event they are no longer within specifications. (These include LevelPRO digital tank processors, LevelBAR tank level indicators.)

Can equipment be returned to the factory for repair/refurbishment?
You may contact the factory sales/service office at 734-662-5691 (or fax 734-662-6652) to obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number. Items must be shipped prepaid to the factory in Ann Arbor, Michigan U.S.A. We offer standard repair charges based on the type of component and can inform you of these charges in advance. Pre-approved repair orders (includes purchase order noting pre-approved charges) can greatly expedite this service.

    What is the warranty?
All King Engineering products are guaranteed to be free from defects in material and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. Any product or part found to be defective, under normal use within one year of purchase, will be repaired or replaced at no charge if returned to the company at Ann Arbor, MI within ten days of discovery of the defect. Seller shall not be liable for consequential damages resulting from breach of this agreement. The term "consequential damages" shall include but not be limited to damage to all machines, equipment and goods other than the goods sold hereby, interruption of production, loss of profits, delays of any kind, administrative expense and overhead.

Repair Services Warranty – 90 days limited warranty.

    FILTERS
How do I know when it is time to replace filter elements?
Cartridges that have reached the end of effective service life will exhibit a higher pressure drop (20-30 psi) across the filter unit. Color-change polisher cartridges (Ultra-C Model U122/U123, U202/U203) will turn red when liquid airborne contaminant has saturated the cartridge signaling replacement. Generally speaking, cartridges should be replaced on regular periodic intervals (6 months, yearly, etc.) based on service conditions.

Do you have replacement cartridges for other manufacturer’s filter housings?
No. Our cartridges are manufactured specifically for KING Filters (including Ultra-C models).

Can KING Filters be used for fluid applications?
No. KING Filters are specifically designed for cleaning compressed air or compressed gases.
